The colt immediately showed talent on the race track by winning his first two starts by a combined 21 lengths, including the Haggin S. at Hollywood Park , then capturing the Hollywood Juvenile Championship S.-G3 by two lengths. He finished second in both the Gr. 1 Futurity (to Grand Slam) and Hopeful S. (to horse of the year Favorite Trick) and placed third in Favorite Trick's Saratoga Special S.-G2.
