KETTLE WON created quite a stir in his 2-year-old debut during the 1998 Saratoga meet as the Todd Pletcher-trainee blew away the opposition with a ten and a half-length romp in maiden special company. He has since competed successfully on dirt and turf, going short and long, and fiinished second in the Fort Lauderdale Handicap-G3 over Gulfstream Park's turf course in March of 2000. A half-brother to the durable allowance horse GLIDE HOME, KETTLE WON is out of championSAFELY KEPT's half-sister SAFE AT THE PLATE, a stakes-placed winner of $114,923.

Ch.c. 1996, Colonial Affair–Safe At the Plate, by Double Zeus. Bred and raised at Dark Hollow Farm. Sold by Dark Hollow Farm for $120,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale. Purchased by Anstu Stables for $370,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Currently standing stud in New York.

BREAD AND BUTTER, bred by Dark Hollow Farm and a full sister to 2011 Maryland-bred champion 2-year-old filly PLUM, sold for $240,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-year-olds in training sale. Purchased by renowned racing executive Charles Cella, she made her debut in September of her 2-year-old season, set all the fractions in the 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight and won by daylight with ears pricked. The pretty chestnut reappeared the following March at her home track of Oaklawn Park and rallied in allowance company for her second win in two starts. She retired to Cella's broodmare band in Arkansas with earnings of $63,255 in five outings. After producing her first foal for Cella in 2017, she made her way back home to her birthplace in Maryland.

The daughter of Pure Prize is out of Dark Hollow Farm's homebred mare BAMBA, a multiple stakes-placed daughter of Not For Love who produced seven winners from seven starters, led by PLUM, a winner of three straight races at 2, including the 7 1/2-furlong Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes. Others out of BAMBA include Maryland Million Classic runnerup, course record setter and seven-time winner of $300,429 Southside Warrior, U BOAT ALLEY, an earner of nearly $150,000 and LA LA BAMBA ($110,524 in earnings) captured three straight races at 2, including the 7 1/2-furlong Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes.

The family continues to draw rave reviews, as PLUM is the dam of two 2-year-olds to sell for six figures - a Bodemeister colt named Classic Romeo for $300,000 in 2018, and an Upstart filly for $400,000 in 2020.
