KETTLE WON created quite a stir in his 2-year-old debut during the 1998 Saratoga meet as the Todd Pletcher-trainee blew away the opposition with a ten and a half-length romp in maiden special company. He has since competed successfully on dirt and turf, going short and long, and fiinished second in the Fort Lauderdale Handicap-G3 over Gulfstream Park's turf course in March of 2000. A half-brother to the durable allowance horse GLIDE HOME, KETTLE WON is out of championSAFELY KEPT's half-sister SAFE AT THE PLATE, a stakes-placed winner of $114,923.

Ch.c. 1996, Colonial Affair–Safe At the Plate, by Double Zeus. Bred and raised at Dark Hollow Farm. Sold by Dark Hollow Farm for $120,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale. Purchased by Anstu Stables for $370,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Currently standing stud in New York.

Continuing the family tradition, SAFE JOURNEY is yet another stakes producer descending from legendary foundation mare SAFELY HOME. The first foal out of Dark Hollow Farm's homebred mare is the multiple stakes-winning filly JOY, winner of Belmont Park's Perfect Sting S., Delaware Park's Christiana S. and Laurel Park's All Brandy S., with earnings of nearly $250,000. Her next foal to start is the handsome Combat Diver, a $100,000 2-year-old sales horse who broke his maiden at Belmont Park and finished second in Laurel's Miracle Wood S. in his first start at 3. Her 2014 son O DIONYSUS, the top-priced colt sold at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearlings sale in 2015 when bringing $190,000, has earnings of nearly $450,000 and is a stakes winner each of his four seasons of competition, on dirt and turf, and set a course record at Delaware Park for a mile and a half when winning the 2018 Cape Henlopen S.

SAFE JOURNEY is from the remarkable family of Hall of Famer SAFELY KEPT. A hard-knocking runner who made 13 starts at 3, winning three allowances that year, and retiring with $75,975 in earnings, SAFE JOURNEY is one of nine winners for her dam Safe At the Plate. A stakes-placed earner of $114,923 and half-sister to SAFELY KEPT, Safe At the Plate also produced graded stakes-placed runners Cognac Kisses ($178,094) and Kettle Won ($113,606) and $361,313-earner Glide Home.

In addition to champion sprinter SAFELY KEPT—Breeders' Cup Sprint-G1 champion, a winner of 24 of 31 starts (22 of them stakes) and $2,194,206 earner—SAFE JOURNEY's family boasts the likes of graded stakes winner, track record holder and sire PARTNER'S HERO and graded stakes winner and Gr.1-placed juvenile SANTIVA.
